Councilmember Stothert BiographyCouncilmember Stothert was elected to the Omaha City Council, District 5 in Southwest Omaha on May 9, 2009. Jean and her husband, Dr. Joseph Stothert, have been married for 32 years. They have two children; Elizabeth – age 26 and Andrew – age 24, who both graduated from the Millard Public Schools. The family lives in Omaha and they are very fortunate for their success. Councilmember Stothert graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She has over 12 years experience as a critical care nurse and nursing manager and was Department Head of Cardiovascular Surgery at St. Louis University. Of particular note, Jean has served the Millard Public Schools over the past 18 years, that included: 3 term elected member of the Board of Education, holding offices of Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President and President for 3 years.  Jean also served as PTO President, District Key Communicator, Bond Issue Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and the Gifted Advisory.
