Councilmember Pahls was elected to City Council District #5 in May, 2013.¬† He currently is Chairman of the Law Advisory Committee and a member of the Public Works Advisory Committee and the Human Resources/Human Rights & Relations/Library Advisory Committee.¬†
After attending and graduating with a Bachelor and Master of Science Degree from Fort Hays State University in Kansas, he earned his Doctorate of Education from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and began his career with Millard Public Schools. ¬†Rich has lived in the Millard area for many years; being an Administrator for Millard Public Schools for over 30 years as well as a principal at many of the Millard Elementary schools.¬†
Rich has spent the last four decades in public service having also been elected as a Nebraska State Senator representing Southwest Omaha for two terms.¬† He was Chairman of the Banking, Commerce and Insurance Committee and a member of the Executive Board of the Legislature.¬† This experience has strengthened Rich‚Äôs strong work ethic and his belief that the best solutions are found by bringing everyone to the table and working together.
Of particular note, Rich can be found at many of the local restaurants in the morning; having a cup of coffee and solving the City of Omaha‚Äôs problems with his early morning constituents.¬†
