I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about a cab subsidy program conceptualized by the American Council of the Blind of Nebraska in 1989, now referred to as Share A Fare.

Share A Fare allows qualified residents of Greater Omaha, defined, to purchase cab tickets at a 50% discount. These tickets can be used to pay either all, or part, of an individuals cab fair.

Individuals who qualify for the program must be certified as either legally blind, have low vision or be visually certified as unable to drive by a medical specialist. Printable applications are available on the Internet at http://www.acb.org/nebraska/transportation/omaha/index.html.
