Enforcement Authority

Under Ordinance No. 28920 entitled the “Civil Rights: Anti-Discrimination” Ordinance the Community Relations/ Discrimination Prevention Division focuses on the prevention and resolution of inter-group conflict through education and special projects throughout the year. 

Responsibilities

The Community Relations Division is responsible for the  prevention of discrimination through education and outreach efforts.  The Division staff provides assistance to Department staff as well as individuals and organizations in the Omaha community through the dissemination of educational information, presenting discrimination prevention seminars, coordinating public service announcements, writing articles regarding discrimination.  Through Special Projects the community is able to experience diverse cultural activities throughout the year in an effort to create tolerance and knowledge towards fellow citizens.
