1. Abandoned Vehicles

  • (Q) What is the process for removal of abandoned vehicles?
  • (A) The information is sent to the appropriate police precinct. The precinct’s response time is 7 to 14 days; these reports are done in between the officer’s normal workload and it may take 3 weeks. The following information is requested for abandoned vehicle reports: make and model of vehicle, color and license plate number.

  • (Q) How do I report a wheel tax/out of state license plate violation?
  • (A) Wheel tax violations can be reported to the Mayor’s Hotline (402-444-5555). For additional information regarding City Wheel Tax, contact Douglas County Department of Motor Vehicles at 402-444-6371.
3. Parking Issues
  • (Q) How long can people park on the street?
  • (A) Vehicles must be moved every 48 hours; Vehicles must be legally parked; Vehicles cannot be driven or parked over sidewalks, curbs, or medians.
  • (Q) How can I report graffiti?
  • (A) Citizens may report graffiti vandalism through the Mayor’s website , the Mayor’s Hotline (402-444-5555), or the non emergency police line (402-444-5600).
