  • Economic Development

As our Country, State and City recovers from the widespread downturn in our national economy, I will work hard to create 1,000 new jobs in our City. Our community is home to unique neighborhoods, business districts, and mixed-use developments. My goal is to continue to build on these strengths and attract diverse businesses to Omaha.

I will efficiently use the funds allocated to Omaha from the federal government’s economic stimulus package to create and retain jobs to help Omaha’s economy stay strong.

I support efforts to keep recent college graduates and young professionals in Omaha and I will work with the Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Omaha Chamber of Commerce to market Omaha to potential new residents, visitors and businesses. I am proud of everything that Omaha offers, including our friendly citizens that roll out the welcome mat to visitors.

  • Green Initiatives

My goal is to make Omaha a leader in the "green economy" through the creation of green jobs and industry. I will continue to work to recruit businesses to Omaha that are committed to creating green jobs. These are the jobs of the future – high-quality, sustainable jobs that will enhance our local workforce.

Sustainability is a primary focus of my administration, as I work to make City departments more efficient and change government to do more with less. My administration will create the City’s first Energy Efficiency Master Plan, a comprehensive plan to reduce our energy consumption.

I encourage all Omahans to do their part to help our City become more sustainable. This is as easy as turning off the lights when you leave a room or choosing to take the bus instead of driving your car. It will take all of us working together to preserve our environment for future generations.

  • In The Community

Public engagement is an important factor in the success of our local government. That is why I take every opportunity to visit neighborhood associations, business organizations, rotary clubs, and other community events to listen to what is on the minds of Omahans. I also enjoy the opportunity to visit local schools and hear the ideas and suggestions of our community's young people.

The Mayor's Office provides a Hotline for residents to call with questions or problems with City services and as a venue to provide feedback to the Mayor. The number to the Mayor's Hotline is 444-5555.

  • Public Safety

The safety and security of our community is very important to our City's growth and development, which is why public safety is my top priority. I will ensure that our police officers and fire fighters have the resources and tools to prevent crime and respond to all types of emergency situations.

The safety of our community also hinges on our commitment to providing opportunities for our young people, which is why I am a strong supporter of after school and mentoring programs that put youth on a path to success from an early age. We all have the responsibility to set an example for our community's young people. The investment we make in our youth today is an investment in our City and its future leaders.
