Chief McDonnell joined the Fire Department on October 30, 1989 and has been Fire Chief since 2007.
The number one goal of the Omaha Fire Department is to make the City of Omaha “Safe City U.S.A.” The Fire Department will:
- Improve the quality of life within the community by providing high quality emergency services.
- Provide a firefighting force capable of handling emergencies, which may include structural firefighting, hazardous materials incidents, all types of rescue and miscellaneous emergencies caused by either man or nature.
- Provide state of the art emergency medical care.
- Provide the community with an excellent fire prevention program that includes public education and arson investigation.
Chief McDonnell’s goal is to accomplish this mission while maintaining a high regard for the safety and health of our personnel. The Fire Department will maintain a high standard of training and will actively participate in the community, serve as role models and with dedication and commitment provide a valued service deemed excellent by our citizens.
