Richard O’Gara was appointed Human Resources Director on January 4, 2010.
Major functions of the Human Resources Department include:
- Managing the City’s hiring processes.
- Administering the City’s benefits program, compensation and pension/retirement systems for employees.
- Managing Labor Relations and contract negotiations with the City’s bargaining groups, including: Administration & Executive, Civilian, Civilian Management, Fire Bargaining, Fire Management, Functional, Part-time/Seasonal/Classified, Police Bargaining and Police Management.
- Implementation of the employee safety program.
Mayor Suttle has asked Richard to implement the following new initiatives:
- An employee wellness program to reduce healthcare costs and improve the health of the City’s workforce.
- Implement an Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety program.
