Omaha's Spraygrounds
Fontenelle Park Sprayground
Fontenelle Sprayground is the City's newest splash pad. It contains nine of the newest spray features including colorful dumping bells, spinners, and spray "flowers". Ground sprays are interactive - when a child steps on a spray, nearby sprays react by rising higher. Water jellies are low sprays that are toddler friendly. Parents can sit nearby and observe the fun under shaded benches.
The new sprayground is located by the playground and tennis courts in Fontenelle Park at 4405 Fontenelle Boulevard. The sprayground is open daily from 10am to 9pm, Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Kountze Sprayground, located at 1920 Pinkney, was opened in 1999. The Sprayground features palm trees, spray hoops and ground sprays. Spray features are activated by the kids themselves when they touch the activator posts. Kountze Sprayground was funded with a gift from the Peter Kiewit Foundation. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Orchard Park Sprayground, at 66th and Hartman, opened in 2002 and features a space theme with the sun, stars and planets illustrated in the rubber surfacing. The nearby traditional playground supports this theme with a rocket-like play structure and similar colors. Spray components include a water wheel, an arch, spray hoops, a donut and ground sprays. The Sprayground was constructed as part of the Orchard Park Rehabilitation project. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Upland Sprayground, located at 3104 Jefferson Street, was opened in 1999. Upland features a sea serpent, spray hoops and daisies. Spray features are activated by the kids themselves when they touch the activator posts. Upland Sprayground was constructed as part of the Upland Park Renovation, replacing a deteriorating, outdated swimming pool. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, Memorial Day through Labor Day.
