Welcome to the City of Omaha Planning Department's Housing and Community Development Website! 

This site provides information about the Housing and Community Development Division's activities.  You can call us "HCD" if you like. 

HCD's mission is "neighborhood revitalization," which we define as the renewing and sustaining of Omaha's older neighborhoods.  That's just a fancy way of saying that we work hard to preserve the older parts of town.  Please have a look at our profile. 

HCD has several programs that help folks living in these older neighborhoods.  They generally fall into five broad categories (see For the Public | Housing):

• Housing programs build new homes, help homeowners improve and maintain their homes, and help folks buy homes;

• Public Facility programs help develop and rehabilitate public facilities; 

• Economic Development programs focus on the development of commercial and industrial properties, the development of micro-enterprise businesses, technical assistance for small businesses and job creation; and

• Services include housing counseling, underwriting, and funding for several programs serving the homeless; and
  
  

• Code Enforcement handles complaints about the condition and use of structures.
