NAHTF-Owner-occupied Rehab Program Print

Purpose: To encourage the rehabilitation of owner-occupied housing is a specifically targeted neighborhood.

The NAHTF Owner-occupied Rehabilitation Program provides grants of up to $30,000 to owners of homes in target neighborhoods.  Program funds can be used for rehabilitating housing exteriors, addressing lead-based paint hazards, correcting substandard housing conditions, and repairing major systems (for example; roofs, foundation, heating and air conditioning) in danger of failure.

General requirements for applicants include the following:

  • Must occupy the property to be rehabilitated
  • Income at or below 80% of the Median Family Income
  • Current on property taxes, student loans, child support payments, and special assessments with no serious credit problems
  • Have a need for at least $1,000 in rehabilitation work and the property must have at least one building code deficiency
  • Must not be a City employee
  • Must reside in home for 36 months after works is completed or must repay a portion of the grant based on time in residence
