Architect: John Latenser
Richardsonian Romanesque Style
Designated Omaha Landmark: June 18, 1985
Designed by notable Omaha architect John Latenser, Center School is one of only a very few major examples of the Richardsonian Romanesque style remaining in Omaha. Based on the work of nationally known architect H. H. Richardson, the style was very popular in the late 1880’s and early 1890’s, particularly for public buildings and large-scale houses.
Ultimately, Latenser designed 35 Omaha schools, the most important being Central High School.
