Georgia Apartments
1040 South 29th Street
1890
Architect: Findley & Shields
Queen Anne Style
Designated Omaha Landmark: December 19,1978
The name for this Queen Anne style dwelling was derived from Georgia Avenue, the original name for what is now 29th Street. A good example of the rowhouse property type, the structure is one of the more elaborate early rowhouses in Omaha, exhibiting a first level of rough-faced limestone..
It was built for J. Herbert VanCloster, president of the Nebraska Mortgage and Loan Company. The Georgia Apartments is a "facade building", with visual interest limited primarily to the front of the structure. |
