Hicks Terrace is a unique example of the Queen Anne style of architecture as applied to a multi-family residential structure.
Designed by the early Omaha firm of Mendelssohn, Fisher and Lawrie, it is representative of the first masonry buildings specifically erected in Omaha for use as multi-family dwellings in the late 1880’s when elaborate trolley networks opened many new areas to development.
Hicks Terrace is historically related to prominent Omaha real estate broker and developer George N. Hicks who is credited with the development of the Hanscom Place neighborhood. |
