Normandie Apartments
1102 Park Avenue
1898
Architect: F. A. Henninger
Renaissance Revival Style
Designated Omaha Landmark: March 17, 1992

The Normandie was built in 1898 by real estate developer George H. Payne, who also constructed the Sherman apartment building at approximately the same time. These two structures are the oldest existing apartment buildings in Omaha.

Built along a street car line that extended from downtown to the nearby Hanscom Park area, the Normandie retains its original floor plan and virtually all of its original architectural characteristics. Frederick Henninger, architect for the Normandie, was a prolific designer whose work includes houses, all types of multi-family dwellings, commercial buildings, schools and churches.

(This building is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places.)
