Building Permits FeesSec. 43-91. Permit fees. Fees shall be assessed in accordance with the provisions of this section. The fee for each building permit shall be as set forth in Table 43-91. The determination of value or valuation for the purpose of assessing the permit fee shall be made by the building official. The value to be used in computing the building permit and plan review fees shall be the total value of all construction work for which the permit is issued. TABLE 43-91. Other inspections and fees: 1. Inspections outside of normal business hours: $34.00 per hour (minimum charge, two hours). 2. Additional plan review required by changes, additions or revisions to approved plans: $30.00 per hour (minimum charge, one-half hour). 3. In case the building inspector is required to make more than one trip from his/her office for the purpose of inspecting any work due to violation of rules, wrong address or any other irregularities caused by the contractor or any of his/her employees, the following charges will be made and paid before the inspection is approved: (1) First additional trip: No charge (2) Second additional trip and each additional trip thereafter: $50.00 4. If the approved plans cannot be located and duplicate plans must be examined and stamped, the following fees shall be charged: Commercial plans: $55.00 One- and two-family dwellings: $20.00 Addition, garage, fence, etc.: $15.00 The building permit fee for the construction of a new single-family dwelling, single-family attached or two-family dwelling located in zones A or B as designated in the city urban development policy shall be the minimum permit fee. 5. Penalty fees: When construction begins before the permit has been issued, the applicant shall pay a penalty fee. Said fee shall be quadruple the amount of the regular fee. No quadruple fee penalty set forth in this chapter shall be imposed if the work is of an emergency nature where a delay in performing the work may cause a risk of life or health or will significantly increase the risk of property damage, provided a permit is applied for within 48 hours of the start of the work, in which case no penalty shall be imposed. 6. Building analysis fee: For the review of an existing building and site to determine building, mechanical, fire and zoning requirements of a proposed use: $170.00. 7. Certificate of occupancy fees: The fee for the first certificate of occupancy for a new building shall be $125.00. The fee for existing buildings or subsequent bays (interior subdivisions) or common areas of new buildings or for a change of occupancy (change of use or purpose) shall be $125.00. The fee for each temporary certificate of occupancy for all or part of a new or existing building shall be $125.00 with a maximum time limit of 90 days. The fee for a copy of a certificate of occupancy shall be $15.00. Pre-occupancy fee: The fee for occupancy without a certificate of occupancy, when allowed, shall be $515.00 in addition to the regular certificate of occupancy fee, with a maximum time limit of 30 days. A reinspection fee for a certificate of occupancy inspection, where the project was not ready or required additional work, shall be charged $50.00 per inspector per inspection. Electrical Permit FeesSec. 44-130. Fee schedule.
The following fees shall be charged by the permits and inspection division for the issuance of electrical work permits. The minimum fee on all electrical work shall be $25.00. Before any permit shall be issued under the provisions of this article, the applicant thereforee shall pay a fee computed as follows: Domestic--Residential TABLE INSET:
Industrial and commercial. This schedule is based on the installation value per building of the heating, air distribution, ventilating and exhaust systems to be installed, which installation value shall include the cost of all labor, material and equipment installed into the project: TABLE INSET:
Reinspections. In case the air conditioning/air distribution inspector is required to make more than one trip from his/her office for the purpose of inspecting any work on account of violation of rules, wrong address, or any other irregularities caused by the contractor or any of his/her employees, the following charges will be made and paid before the certificate of inspection is issued: First additional trip: No charge. Flammable Liquid FeesSec. 40-247. Same--Fee. The fee for a permit to store oils or other liquids designated in this article shall be based upon the capacity of the storage tank as follows: (a) 100 to 600 gallons . . . $56.65 (b) 601 to 3,000 gallons . . . 87.55 (c) 3,001 to 10,000 gallons . . . 128.75 (d) 10,001 to 40,000 gallons . . . 200.85 (e) 40,001 gallons or more . . . 329.60 and shall be paid for each such storage tank prior to the issuance of such permit. Such fee shall cover the cost of inspection of such tanks. Any owner or his agent who shall fail to obtain the necessary permit before starting any work for which a permit is required by the provisions of this article shall, upon being granted a permit for such work, be required to pay quadruple the amount of the regular fees. No permit shall be issued under the provisions of this division until the applicant therefore shall have paid the following applicable fee based on the dollar value of the installation, alteration or extension of the refrigerating system, which dollar value shall include the cost of all labor, material and equipment installed into the project: TABLE INSET:

Steam Fitting and Pipefitting FeesSec. 40-557. Fees At the time of filing an application for a permit required by the provisions of this division, the applicant shall pay the following appropriate fees based on the installation value, which installation value shall include the cost of all labor, material and equipment installed into the project: TABLE INSET:

If any work coming under the provisions of this article is started without first obtaining a permit as provided in this article, the person doing such work shall be in violation of this code, and a fee quadruple the amount due under this article, or $100.00, whichever is greater, shall be imposed for the required permit in addition to any other penalty which may be imposed for the violation of this code. No permit shall be issued under the provisions of this article until the applicant therefore has paid the following applicable fee based upon the dollar value of the installation, alteration or repair of the fire protection system, which dollar value shall include the cost of all labor, material and equipment installed into the project: TABLE INSET:

Before any sign, awning or face change permit shall be issued under the provisions of this article, the following appropriate fee shall be paid: Signs 35 square feet or less in area: $41.00. Signs 36 to 75 square feet in area: $82.00. Signs 76 to 150 square feet in area: $155.00.
Signs 151 to 300 square feet in area: $206.00. Signs over 300 square feet in area: $309.00. Awnings: $4.12 for each 100 square feet of vertical projected area of the awning or fraction thereof, $41.00 minimum fee. Face change: One-half the appropriate fee for new signs, as listed above. Temporary Signs (2) Signs temporarily displayed that direct attention to a business, profession, commodity or service that is offered, sold or manufactured on property or premises shall be permitted with the following limitations: a. A sign permit shall be required for the display of all temporary signs. b. Temporary sign permit fees are $2.00 per day for 20 square feet or any fraction thereof, with a $60.00 minimum fee. A six-month permit may be obtained for $300.00. c. Temporary signs can be no larger than 20 square feet. d. A maximum of one temporary sign is permitted for any single lot, or one per business in a common development. e. Location: All temporary signs must be attached to the face of a building or to the structure of another sign. Banners or posters on the inside of windows are subject to section 55-824(f). Temporary signs are not allowed to be attached to a pole or poles away from a building. f. Such signs shall not be placed in public right-of-way. g. Height: A banner sign attached to a building cannot exceed the height of the building. Banners on another sign face must meet the standards for that type of sign.
Re-inspection fees increased to $50 beginning January 1, 2009. If any inspector (building, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical) has to make a third trip to your job site for the same inspection, you will now be required to pay a $50 re-inspection fee. |
