Request for Services are placed in the Wednesday editions of the Omaha World-Herald (morning and evening editions) and in the Daily Record. Firms' requests for the Scope of Work shall be in writing (either fax, email or letter).
Selection Committees consist of five members for projects over $100,000.
- City Engineer, The presiding officer.
- One qualified representative of the department sponsoring the project.
- Two other City personnel, appropriate to the project
- One disinterested resident appointed by the Mayor.
Selection Methods consist of:
a) Projects up to $100,000 require department representatives to select firms from approved discipline lists. Once a firm has been selected, a fee is negotiated and a purchase order is written to hire the firm. The discipline lists are available to departments to review on the City's intranet.
b) Projects from $100,000 to $250,000 call for the City Engineer to appoint a selection committee to review and to rank proposals. Selection is based upon the information contained in the proposals - interviews are not necessary.
c) Projects over $250,000 - The City Engineer appoints a selection committee to review and to rank the proposals from which three firms are invited to interview.
Fee Negotiations for projects over $100,000 begin after the selected firm has been notified.
