Streets & Sidewalks

Streets in Omaha are maintained by two Public Works Divisions; Street Maintenance and Traffic Maintenance.  Below is a listing of the primary functions of each division and the services they provide.  Sidewalk and Driveway approaches are under the control of the Construction Division. Street Maintenance:

• snow removal
• street sweeping

Traffic Maintenance Division is responsible for:

• the traffic signs
• pavement markings
• lane line striping
• traffic signals

Traffic Engineering Division processes requests for:

• new traffic signals
• development plan review
• traffic studies
• accident information
• traffic counts and street closure permits

Construction Division is responsible for the enforcement of:

• sidewalk / driveway approach repairs
• sidewalk snow removal
